As a Florida notary, I must inform you that a notary is not authorized to certify a copy of a birth certificate Death Certificate or Marriage Certificate. Those are considered vital records, which are public records maintained by government agencies. Only the issuing government agency has the authority to certify these documents. If you need a certified copy, I recommend contacting the appropriate agency for assistance.
A notary can sign as a witness to a document, but they cannot also be the notary for the same document.
